Do you want to drive a safe car? A recent study has shown that Tesla cars are among the least likely for riders involved in accidents to die. This comes as the Tesla Model 3 scoops multiple awards at What Car?
Death may be a morbid topic, but cars, while useful, could cut lives short when involved in accidents. However, Tesla cars are among the least likely to be involved in fatal crashes, as EpicVIN has revealed. The vehicle history report firm ranked Tesla among the ten safest cars in its latest study.
EpicVIN gathered data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Fatality and Injury Reporting System Tool. The figures show the number of fatalities recorded in the US from 2017 to 2022. The study evaluated the percentages of fatalities among the total victims of reported accidents.
According to the analysis, Tesla passengers were the third least likely to suffer fatality in an accident. Of 490 riders involved in accidents in the years studied, 28.78 percent lost their lives, or 141.
The second safest brand was Land Rover, recording a fatality rate of 23.65 percent out of 575 victims reported, meaning 136 fatalities.
Ram took the first position, with only 1,045 fatalities out of 5,593 victims, or 18.68 percent.
CEO of EpicVIN, Jurgis Plikaitis, commented, “With many of the brands to feature on this list specializing in larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks in their current range of production vehicles, one would assume these would provide better results in a high-speed accident… Adhering to general rules of the road will keep you safer on the road from serious incidents, in addition to things like wearing a seatbelt, not driving while impaired, and regularly checking your tire pressure.”
Across the pond, Tesla continues to make a good showing as a brand. The UK-based publication What Car? heaped multiple EV awards on the Tesla Model 3.
As posted on What Car?’s X (formerly Twitter) account, the electric sedan cart away the award of the best used executive car for 2024. The online publication praised the last-generation Model 3 as being good value for money, with some Rear Wheel Drive Standard Range Plus units going for as low as £15,000 on the UK’s used car market.
However, What Car? rates the new Model 3 Highland highly, too, awarding the RWD version the best electric executive car and singling out the amazing tech and spacious boot as practical.
